UK or Dual Tax Manager

Weybridge/London/WFH Hybrid working, 2-3 days


Responsibilities

  • Undertake day to day line management responsibilities for appropriate members of the team with overall responsibility for their development and progression and in turn overseeing their management of more junior members of staff
  • Where relevant, working with the team leader to oversee tax return process(es), taking responsibility for ensuring that all returns are completed by the required deadlines and where possible within client service guidelines
  • Review and sign out routine advisory work prepared and researched by other members of the team
  • Successfully manage a portfolio of clients with support from Tax Seniors and/or Assistant Managers including the financial management such as recoverability and invoicing.
  • Opportunity to obtain business development experience and participate in business development activities

Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE

  • Proven organisational ability
  • Good communication skills with respect to dealing with clients and more senior members of staff
  • Previous people management exposure and skills
  • Experience of managing the commercial aspects of their workload including managing client WIP and dealing with billing
  • Experience of dealing with the UK tax rules applying to non-UK domiciled individuals and in advising on the tax considerations applying to either of the following:-
  • US citizens living in the UK
  • Non UK resident trusts with UK resident settlors and or beneficiaries
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work to deadlines as required

SPECIFIC TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Reasonable experience of advising non-UK domiciliaries – including considering and explaining the individual’s domicile status
  • Reasonable experience on advising remittance basis planning including account structuring, implications of the capital loss election and the treatment of mixed funds.
  • Reasonable experience of advising on residence – including assessing UK residence status, arriving / leaving the UK, temporary non-residence and dual residence situations.
  • Reasonable experience of applying the provisions of a double taxation agreement to a taxpayer’s income and gains for the year and determining the amount if any of foreign tax credit to be claimed in the UK.
  • Some experience of assisting with a client’s estate planning including the concept of excluded property and additional considerations where their spouse is UK domiciled.
